 | "Nemea" table lamp
Vico Magistretti for Artemide, 1979
h: 40 cm, 15 3/4 ''
a great lamp, look twice as me!
the little shade on top reflects the light to the white disk at the bottom, which makes a nice light. When it´s dark around, only the white disk is seen.
In my experience a very rare lamp.
Illustrated in " Repertorio".

In the little Italian Design Guide by Dumont, they write that Vico Magistretti liked mainly to be an architect, although his succeses with Designs. He did still design things, because " Design is ...the only way to get in contact with people (or your next one)", said Vico Magistretti. Interesting. I sometimes try to find out the ideas behind a
design. This one is called Nemea, what does he tell us with that name? Not sure, Nemea, a place in ancient Greece, is known for a temple of Zeus there, built 400 before Christ. Left over are just 3 columns, one stands alone as I found out, just like the stem of this lamp. Just guesses, is Vico doing riddles?
For sure he did fantastic designs. And this lamp is somehow talking to you when you look at it.
