The Boby trolley is one of the most famous works of Joe Colombo.
Born 1930 in Milan, Joe Colombo died much too early in 1971. One of his last works was the "total furnishing unit" which was shown at the "Italy: The New Domestic Landscape" exhibition in New York`s Museum of Modern Art.

Originally Joe Colombo started as an artist, painting and sculputuring, he studied art in Milan, later architecture and started as an free artist. Later he took over his father`s shop and opened up a designing office. His first designs he did with his brother Gianni Colombo, like the "Acrilia" for O-Luce.
In his short life and not more than 10 years of time for designing, Joe Colombo became a legend and he still is.
While alive, he received the "Compasso dŽoro", the MOMA had chosen 3 of Joe Colombo`s works for their permanent exhibition.

Some of Joe Colomo `s works are still in prodution (like the Boby), which says a lot about this great, creative and innovative man. Joe Colombo, to some people magic words and their eyes begin to shine, Joe Colombo, Joe Colombo...
